Kitchen Cabinets – Waxing and Polishing

Waxing is not required or recommended. Never use furniture wax or any kind of silicone products on your cabinets as this silicone and wax build-up left by some furniture polishes, is very difficult to remove and these waxing and polishing compounds products do not wipe off completely, and will build up over time on the surface of your cabinets and cause cloudiness and discoloration – a hazy, streaky or yellowed appearance.

These products will not only damage the finish of your cabinets, but it will also attract dust and grease – just what you were trying to remove – and encourage excessive scrubbing and the use of harsh cleaning agents which can damage the gloss on even the toughest finish! Furniture polishes are fine, though, since they contain detergents to clean the dirt and mineral oil to protect from dirt and oil.
